Since its foundation in 2012, studio IRIS MAREE only works with cruelty free materials and timeless collections. Depending on the creative process, classic styles are refined or new styles are added to the collection.

A revolution in fashion land

We use high-quality vegan leather to create luxury bags without animals suffering. Doing things differently in the fashion industry is never easy, but we believed it was possible to create high-quality fashion bags made of a non-leather material (vegan leather).

Causing quite a little revolution in the fashion world, we became the Dutch pioneers of vegan luxury bags.

We can say that we have proved our point: the wellbeing of animals doesn’t have to compromise fashion.

Finding the perfect vegan leather

We knew that our brand would only become a success if the quality of our vegan material was as good as – or even better than real leather (also read: what is vegan leather). Nobody in the Netherlands had ever done what we did, which meant that it took us years of testing in different factories to create the perfect non-leather material. Our goal was to create high-end luxury bags that had the look and all the positive qualities of ‘real’ leather bags, but without animals suffering for it.

Statement bags made in Portugal

Our statement bags are minimalistic, colourful, and characterized by the use of strong lines. The studio IRIS MAREE trademark is the round enamel logo pin positioned at the back of each model.  

Iris finds inspiration for her vegan bags everywhere around her. While cycling around in her hometown Amsterdam, when making a trip to New York for a fashion fair or while walking in nature. Other sources of inspiration are music and art, which have always been important themes in Iris’ life. 

Both comfort and fashion are united in our luxury bags. Our vegan bags are great for daily use but also perfect as a statement piece on special occasions.

Our bags are designed in Amsterdam and produced in a family-run atelier in Portugal. By using vegan leather and European productions, studio IRIS MAREE strives to integrate concepts such as sustainability, inclusivity and transparency in the company.
